Rain Plan : Atlanta Classic Car Engagement Session

The weathermen really messed with us the week of Priya and Milan’s engagement session. You see, they were visiting us from NYC so we had planned a detailed photoshoot itinerary. We monitored the weather for weeks and it was supposed to be sunny so they decided on a vineyard and a vintage train museum as the final photo locations.

Outfits bought. Hair by Elmira and make up by Samantha Gunn of Gunn Glamour booked. Plane tickets non-refundable.

Then, suddenly, just a few days prior the weather prediction changed drastically. It was now a devastating 80% chance of thunderstorms all weekend.

Panic Mode: ON.

Luckily, as Atlanta-based photographers we have been trained to deal with bipolar weather patterns and always keep a few “Plan B” options in case of a rainy day. So we dug deep into our repertoire and started calling favors from friends (and strangers) to accommodate this last minute change into indoors-only locations.

  • First up was the owner of Le Fat, a high end Vietnamese/French fusion restaurant in Midtown Atlanta with the most chic interior. The mint chinoiserie wallpaper, dark wood details, and red booth combo is a killer. It’s almost like stepping into a Vogue photoshoot. Not to mention – AMAZING food!
  • Then, we called in our good friend who manages the splendid LionHeart Mansion in Buckhead Atlanta – which used to be owned by country singer-turned-restaurateur Kenny Rogers.
  • Last but not least, we came across the Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta – a showroom of luxurious classic cars located literally walking distance away from our house! It is actually open to public, so all of you classic car enthusiasts really should make a pilgrimage there.

After we got the OK from all three, we presented these Plan B options to Priya and Milan. Their reaction? Priceless. We could feel their virtual eyes sparkled (via e-mail LOL) in ways that never did for the original plan. Milan, in particular, was so excited about the Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta he responded with his car selections in MINUTES.

But life just has a way to keep things interesting…because the day turned out to be SUNNY without a single drop of rain. Yep – we laughed about it but we agreed that the Plan B turned out so much better than Plan A so the decision was to stick to it…rain or shine!

The session was one of the most joyous we’ve done in our career. It felt like an adventure. An experience. And a great life lesson that when Plan A does not work – the alphabet has 25 more letters… so don’t give up!
