It was not our first time at Atlanta’s very own Georgia Aquarium, but it certainly felt like it.
For Carrie and CJ’s after-hours engagement session, we got the chance to experience the world’s largest aquarium without the distraction of a crowd… and what a magical experience it was! With a special “backstage pass” and a very knowledgeable guide, we spent a couple of hours in private exploring every nook of this beautiful aquarium and learning fun insights about the unique personalities and behaviors of the animals (i.e. the two beluga whales are polar opposites: one is super shy and the other is a social butterfly!). With nobody else around, Carrie and CJ got to soak in the beautiful view and focus on this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Modern-day couples are most likely tucked in between a thousand things: career goals, family obligations, mundane chores and social outings. While those are important, we think it’s even more important to intentionally separate ourselves as a couple away from those things once in a while. Actually, as often as we could :) Because, let’s face it, time truly is the best investment in a relationship.
Our “private tour” experience was a gentle-yet-clear reminder for us to prioritize our “couples time”. Sure, we are married. But we don’t see any reason why married couples should not go on regular dates and enjoy each other’s company to strengthen their bond. With kids in our 5-year plan, we realize that this may be more difficult said than done. However, we certainly hope to keep this tradition alive even then.
Wish us luck! :)
